Cha’s Taekwon-do is built around the belief that martial arts training should provide more than physical technique alone.
Our goal is to help students develop confidence, discipline, focus, responsibility, respect, and strong technical ability through consistent, structured training.
We welcome children, teenagers, adults, beginners, and experienced martial artists into a program designed for long-term development.
Our School
At Cha’s Taekwon-do, we focus on creating a training environment that is structured, respectful, and supportive.
Students are expected to train with effort, listen carefully, respect instructors and fellow students, and take responsibility for their own development.
At the same time, our instructors work to understand each student individually and provide guidance based on age, experience, rank, and ability.
Our goal is to maintain high standards while giving each student the opportunity to progress with confidence.
Our Teaching Philosophy
We believe strong martial arts training begins with strong fundamentals.
Rather than focusing only on advancement or belt promotion, we emphasize proper technique, consistency, understanding, and continued improvement.
Students are encouraged to develop each skill carefully and build upon what they have already learned.
As students advance, expectations also increase. Techniques become more refined, combinations more complex, and students are expected to demonstrate greater control, understanding, responsibility, and maturity in their training.
One Continuous Curriculum
Children, teenagers, and adults at Cha’s Taekwon-do learn from the same core Taekwon-do curriculum.
Taekwon-do was originally developed as a martial art for adults. Rather than creating a separate or simplified children’s system, we adapt the way the same material is taught so younger students can understand and perform it appropriately for their age and stage of development.
Because the curriculum remains consistent, students do not have to change systems as they grow older.
Their training can continue naturally from childhood through the teenage years and into adulthood.
Structure, Discipline & Respect
Structure and discipline are fundamental parts of our training environment.
Students learn to follow instruction, respect the training space, work responsibly with others, and understand that progress requires consistency and effort.
Discipline is not treated simply as strictness. We view it as the ability to remain focused, follow through, maintain control, and continue working even when something is challenging.
Respect is reinforced through the way students interact with instructors, training partners, family members, and the school itself.
Individual Development
No two students progress in exactly the same way.
Although students train within a structured curriculum, our instructors pay close attention to individual ability, understanding, confidence, coordination, and technical development.
Students receive corrections and guidance based on what they personally need to improve.
Our goal is not to compare one student against another, but to help each student continue developing from their own starting point.
Long-Term Training
We view Taekwon-do as long-term training rather than a short-term activity.
Reaching a new belt is an important accomplishment, but it represents another stage of development rather than an endpoint.
As students progress through the ranks, they continue refining fundamentals while developing new skills, greater technical understanding, stronger physical ability, and increased responsibility.
This approach allows students to continue learning and improving throughout their training.
Our Instructors
Our instructors are committed to maintaining the standards and traditions of Taekwon-do while providing instruction that is clear, practical, and appropriate for each student.
We believe an instructor’s responsibility extends beyond demonstrating techniques.
Our instructors observe students closely, provide corrections, reinforce expectations, encourage improvement, and help students understand both how and why techniques are performed.
Students are encouraged to ask questions and take an active role in understanding their training.
A Community Built Around Training
While our primary focus is Taekwon-do, the relationships students develop through training are also an important part of our school.
Students of different ages, backgrounds, and levels of experience train alongside one another with a shared expectation of effort and respect.
Families are an important part of our community as well, whether they are supporting a child’s training or participating together.
We want students and families to feel comfortable asking questions, communicating with our instructors, and being involved in the school.
Our Standards
We take pride in maintaining a clean, organized, and professional training environment.
Our standards extend beyond instruction and include the condition of our facility, the care of our equipment, student safety, and the overall experience of the families who train with us.
Equipment is cleaned after use, the school is cleaned daily, and our instructors continuously work to maintain an environment where students can focus on their training.
